Capacity Building Facility
The World Bank's SME Department established, in July 2002, the Capacity Building Facility (CBF).
The CBF funds projects that are designed to expand the capabilities of intermediaries that deliver sustainable products and services to SMEs. In its first two years, CBF has approved $13.5 million for 65 projects. The idea is to support a diverse range of projects -- from a trade facilitation platform for poor craftswomen in India to a network of SME investment funds that combine financing with business and technical assistance to small business owners around the world.
