7^th INSME Annual Meeting

"Competitiveness, Culture and Cross-Border Co-operation: Assisting SMEs to Grow, Innovate and Reach International Markets"

The 7^th INSME Association Annual Meeting on "Competitiveness, Culture and Cross-Border Co-operation: Assisting SMEs to Grow, Innovate and Reach International Markets" took place on 23 – 26 May 2011, in Helsinki, Finland. The event was organised by the INSME Secretariat in collaboration with EPROCA – European ProClusters Association with the support of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, the Finnish Innovation Fund - Sitra, the City of Helsinki, the British and Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce in Finland, Legistum Ltd and the Suomen Yrittäjäopisto - Finnish Institute for Enterprise Management.

The event was organised by the INSME Secretariat in cooperation with SEBRAE - Brazilian Service of Support for Micro and Small Enterprises.

5^th INSME Annual Meeting

"Building a Knowledge based eco-system for SMEs: Finance, Innovation, Technology and Networking"

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - UAE

The Fifth INSME Association Annual Meeting 2009 on the theme “Building a Knowledge based eco-system for SMEs: Finance, Innovation, Technology and Networking", took place from 20 to 23 April 2009, in Dubai, UAE.This 4 day event, co-organised by the INSME Association in cooperation with the Dubai Institute of Technology (DIT) – Dubai Technopark within the DIT SMEs Forum, included the 6^th INSME Board Meeting, the 5^th INSME General Assembly, the INSME 2009 International Conference, the Industrial Site Visits in Dubai and a sightseeing tour of the city. Approximately 250 representatives attended this event.

4^th INSME Annual Meeting

"Encouraging SME Innovation and Growth: Increasing Capital Access"

Guangzhou (Canton), P. R. China

The Fourth INSME Annual Meeting took place in Guangzhou (Canton), P.R. China, on July 2-4, 2008 and was co-hosted by the Administration Center of Innovation Fund for Technology-based SMEs (Torch High Technology Industry Development Center), Ministry of Science & Technology, the Chinese INSME Member, holding the INSME Vice-presidency since July 2007 and by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province.
The 3-day meeting comprised the IV INSME General Assembly (opened to INSME Members only), an International Conference on "Encouraging SME Innovation and Growth: Increasing Capital Access" and an organised site visit to the Canton region’s main relevant innovation intermediaries and business incubators.

3^rd INSME Annual Meeting

“Reinvigorating our Global Partnership for Innovation”

Rome, Italy

This Meeting was open only to INSME Members. About 50 INSME Members delegates from several geographic regions participated. The agenda focused on the following main themes:
- Proposal for the set up of an INSME Project Development Unit to carry out activities and projects;
- Election of the new INSME Board for the mandate mid-2007-2009.

2^nd INSME Annual Meeting

"Boosting Innovation by Bridging the Knowledge Gap: a Developper-User Approach"

Montevideo, Uruguay

28 outstanding speakers shed lights on the discrepancies between innovation demand and offer and debate with participants on how to overcome them, in order to boost innovation by way of favouring the diffusion of knowledge among culturally and geographically distant players. This second INSME meeting saw the participation of about 200 representatives of organisations operating in the field of innovation and technology transfer in 24 countries.

1^st INSME Annual Meeting

"International Cooperation to Seize Innovation Opportunites for SMEs"

Barcelona, Spain

35 countries, about 200 representatives of organisations operating in the field of innovation and technology transfer, and 25 speakers gathered at the WTC in Barcelona and gave their views on how innovation in SMEs has to be supported in order to make them cope with international competition.

About the INSME Annual Meeting

The INSME Annual Meeting is the main event in the life of the Association, an important occasion for all INSME Members to take stock of what has been implemented by the Association at a given time and to move forward in pursuing its mission.

The INSME Annual Meeting is also a valuable opportunity for participants - whether INSME Members or non Members - to increase their organisation's visibility among renowned international, national and local public and private players operating in the field of SMEs, innovation and technology transfer all over the world and strengthen their networking capacity and reputation in this field at international level.

The meeting is generally a three-day international event structured as follows:

• Day 1:
  INSME Board Meeting and INSME General Assembly Meeting (for Association Members only);
• Day 2:
  International Forum on innovation and SME related hot topics, including thematic workshops (open to Members and non-Members)
• Day 3:
  Site visits to the region’s relevant innovation intermediaries and service centres/networks (open to Members and non-Members)
