European Small Business Act (Comité Richelieu) |
It is widely recognised that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have to grasp the business opportunities offered by globalisation if they want to stay competitive. However, fewer European SMEs become global companies if compared to SMEs in other countries, for instance in the United States. This is because they do not compete on equal footing.
For this reason a lobby group, in which the Comité Richelieu (French Association of High Tech SMEs) is part, is calling for the EU and national governments to agree a European Small Business Act, a programme which would support the development of innovating SMEs, in particular by giving them greater access to public contracts.
