European Small Business Act (Comité Richelieu)

It is widely recognised that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have to grasp the business opportunities offered by globalisation if they want to stay competitive. However, fewer European SMEs become global companies if compared to SMEs in other countries, for instance in the United States. This is because they do not compete on equal footing.

For this reason a lobby group, in which the Comité Richelieu (French Association of High Tech SMEs) is part, is calling for the EU and national governments to agree a European Small Business Act, a programme which would support the development of innovating SMEs, in particular by giving them greater access to public contracts.

ViPiA Training Package for Entrepreneurs (EU project)

Virtual Pre-incubation Accelerator
Part-funded by the European Commission (Leonardo da Vinci programme, phase II)

ViPiA provides an environment where "would-be" entrepreneurs with a seemingly feasible business idea undergo a learning process so that they can acquire the tools and skills needed to transform their idea into a viable business start-up. The whole package is intended to be used by business incubators as a service for their clients and as a training asset for existing clients' staff and management.

ViPiA has partners in Belgium, Greece, Spain, Netherlands and Cyprus.
