GUANGZHOU (pron. Kuang chou)
Capital of the Guangdong Province in the South of the People’s Republic of China, Guangzhou is the biggest seaside and most prosperous city with a total population of 9,754,600.
Located in the centre of the Pearl River Delta, Guangzhou is renowned as a very dynamic seaport for foreign trade. The city enjoys a strategic position in the economic circle of Southeast Asia. It is equidistant from Japan and Southeast Asian Countries within a flight voyage of 3 to 4 hours in general and only 182 km away from Hong Kong.
Guangzhou is situated within the Tropic of Cancer and has an average annual temperature of about 22.6 degrees centigrade. The Asian monsoon influence the area determining a humid subtropical climate. Summers are wet with high temperatures and a high humidity index. Always remember to bring an umbrella with you.

Guangzhou is a famous historical city with a 2000 year's history. In ancient days, it was the capital city for three Chinese dynasties: the Nan Yue (South Yue), the Nan Han (South Han) and the Nanming (South Ming). For this reason it was put in the list of the 24 most famous historical cultural cities in China and became a tourist destination.

The Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family
It is famous for its superb craftsmanship employed to give the temple a magnificent yet solemn atmosphere. Plenty of carvings, sculptures and murals embodying the folk art, the temple covers an area of 15,000 square meters. As for the carving techniques, both realistic and imaginative styles were employed to give the monument a magnificent yet solemn atmosphere. White Cloud Mountain (Baiyun Shan)
Located in the north of the city, the mountain gains its name by always having clouds surrounding its peak. You can have a bird view of the whole Guangzhou city at the peak. It is easy to reach. Take the public bus, No. 199, 233, 24, 36, 285, or 540. Tourists can take a cable car to reach the top of the mountain. The entrance fee is CNY 5/USD 0.72.
Bright Filial Piety Temple (Guangxiao Si)
Located at Guangxiao Lu, it is the oldest and largest Buddhist temple in the Lingnan Area. The Bright Filial Piety Temple plays an important role in Chinese Buddhism history because many famous Buddhist monks came here to preach religious doctrines, bringing glory to this temple. The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall
 It is the most important relic in Guangdong Province. It was built for Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the forerunner of Chinese democratic revolution. It was completed in October 1931. Bus Route: 2, 27, 42, 56, 62, 74, 80, 83 Opening Hours:08:00 to 18:00 Admission Fee: CNY 5/USD 0.72.
Yuexiu Park
The largest park in Guangzhou gets its name from Yuexiu Mountain, which is located in the park. Yuexiu Park is famous for its beautiful scenery and its large number of historical relics such as the Five-Ram Sculpture, Zhenhai Tower, the site of the Ming Dynasty City Wall, and the Square Cannon Site. You can get to the park by taking bus No. 2, 5, 6, 10, 58, or 101.

Qing Ping Market
Big market selling dried herbs dried sea cucumbers dried sea horses...etc. Interesting to browse around. The Cantonese like to boil soup over slow flame for at least 2 hour; suppose to be a good tonic to keep the doctors away. This market offers all kind of herbal ingredients for the soup pot. Directions: Exit Metro station Huangsha and walk on Liu Er San road.
Nine Dragon Springs
 Once you reach the top of Baiyun Shan, you have the option of strolling around or visiting the many themed parks within the mountain. They really are like small garden havens or temples on the expanse of the mountain. One such place is the Nine Dragon Springs. It is probably named as such because of the nine dragons that are carved thematically around the area. When you first enter the garden, you see two large poles with nine dragons carved into each. Then as you walk farther in, you will find a fountain with nine dragons carved into it and water coming from the mouth of each. It is a typical garden park designed for respite. There is some climbing involved, but it is invigorating rather than taxing. Directions: BUS: No.24 from Renmin Park gate or a minibus from Guangwei Lu (about 1 hr ride from centre of town) TAXI: Faster, takes about 1/2 hour. ADMISSION: 10 CNY/USD 1.44.
Peasant Movement Institute
 Mao Zedong, China's famous revolutionary leader, was basically the director of the Peasant Movement Institute around the years 1925-26, after it was originally established and spearheaded by Peng Pai, who like Mao, also believed that any communist revolution that would be successful in China had to have the peasants as its base foundation. Baiyun Shan - Nengren Temple
Buddism is really a large part of the culture. This is the Nengren temple in Baiyun Shan. You can enter the temple, offer incense, and say your prayers. Directions: BUS: No.24 from Renmin Park gate or a minibus from Guangwei Lu (about 1 hr ride from center of town) TAXI: Faster, takes about 1/2 hour. ADMISSION: 5 CNY/USD 0.72.
