    <content:encoded xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.cirano.qc.ca/en/index.php" target="_blank">CIRANO</a>, the Centre for Interuniversity Research and Analysis on Organizations located in Montreal (Canada), announces three upcoming events in a planned series of conferences on innovation and competition. </p><p>The first conference, entitled <b>Patent Policy: Using, Abusing and Reforming</b>, is scheduled for <b>Fall 2004</b> at Duke University. </p><p>The second conference, tentatively entitled <b>Copyright Protection: Incentives to Create, Maintain and Exclude</b>, will occur in <b>Fall 2005</b> at the University of Southern California. </p><p>The final conference in this series, entitled <b>The Great Balancing Act: Competition Policy and Intellectual Property Law</b>, is to take place in <b>Summer of 2006</b> at CIRANO in Montreal. </p><p>The conferences are designed as a series to bring together scholars in law and in economics to evaluate policies that simultaneously endeavor to promote innovation and to preserve the desired efficiencies of market competition.&nbsp;A balanced mix of conceptual, empirical, and policy studies will be presented at the three conferences.</p><p>Please&nbsp;download the Call for Papers for the first conference:<br /><img src="resolveuid/52579de87f4566d87d6efe29f80d7b94" border="0" />&nbsp; <a href="http://www.cirano.qc.ca/gouvernance/Callforpapers.pdf">http://www.cirano.qc.ca/gouvernance/Callforpapers.pdf</a></p>]]></content:encoded>
