The G20’s Leaders Declaration

December, 21, 2018

On the 30th of November and 1st of December 2018, G20 leaders reunited in Buenos Aires, Argentina to define a common ground of understanding and commitment for a fair and sustainable development through a people-centred, inclusive and forward looking agenda.

The declaration adopted focused on the following pillars: the future of work, infrastructure for development, a sustainable food future and a gender mainstreaming strategy across the G20 agenda.

G20 leaders committed to ensure a fair and sustainable future of work by promoting decent work, vocational training and skills development, including digital and entrepreneurship skills as well as reskilling workers and improving labour conditions in all forms of employment.
To take the most from digitalization and emerging technologies, G20 leaders will support micro, small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurs, bridge the digital gender divide and encourage further digital inclusion, and improve digital government, digital infrastructure and measurement of the digital economy.

G20 leaders stated their commitment to tackling the challenges of food security by promoting dynamism in rural areas and sustainable agriculture as well as encouraging the sharing of innovative as well as traditional agricultural practices and technologies.

G20 leaders will also continue to work on gender equality by promoting women’s economic empowerment, including by working with the private sector, by improving labour conditions for all, such as through access to quality and affordable care infrastructure and parental leave, and by reducing the gender pay gap.
