The community of innovators from the Mediterranean area reunited in Cairo on the 20th of June for the 3rd Annual Conference of THE NEXT SOCIETY project. THE NEXT SOCIETY coordination team presented the main achievements of the initiative since its launch and set the basis for the activities and steps to follow in the upcoming months. Over the past three years THE NEXT SOCIETY (a project funded by the EU) operated and impacted on four levels of the innovation ecosystem: it supported improvements in policy frameworks; it fostered startups successes; it promoted and contributed to the internationalization of clusters; it accelerated technology transfer towards the enterprises.
By focusing on the last year, THE NEXT SOCIETY designed and operated a complete bunch of activities that can be grouped into four main categories: trainings, business meetings and innovation and research support. During the Annual Conference three different sub-groups have been arranged to organize the future activities of the project: innovation policy, tech transfer and capacity building for clusters. With a look to innovation policy the representatives of targeted MED countries shared their priorities regarding the national innovation agenda and proposed orientations with regard to the technical assistance missions to be held soon in each country.
