9 May 2025

The 58th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) was held in Milan from May 4 to 7, bringing together more than 5,000 participants from governments, the private sector, civil society, and academia. The high-level gathering centered around the theme “Sharing Experience, Building Tomorrow,” and explored key development challenges and opportunities across Asia and the Pacific. This year’s discussion focused on advancing resilient, inclusive, and sustainable growth, emphasizing key priorities such as food systems transformation, digital technology investment, energy modernization, and climate resilience, in order to address main regional transformations and global challenges such as climate change, digital divides, and sustainable infrastructure development. ADB President Masato Kanda emphasized that while the region faces significant pressures, from external shocks to climate change, there are also opportunities for progress through deeper collaboration, innovation, and investment.

ADB reaffirmed its commitment to expanding private sector development, with a goal to increase annual private sector financing four-fold to $13 billion by 2030. This reflects a broader push to leverage innovation and partnerships in support of sustainable infrastructure and economic growth.
