WIPO Third Conversation on Intellectual Property and Artificial Intelligence

The Third session of the WIPO Conversation on IP and Artificial Intelligence (AI) was held with the participation of stakeholders coming from more than 130 countries.

The scope of the conversation was announced by the WIPO Director General, Mr Tang, in his opening speech on the role and the impact of AI and innovation in the global economy. Interconnectivity, computers, big data drive the technological revolution, bring new challenges across a range of industries, and arise a global awareness on the AI-related policy issues.

AI-driven innovations also greatly impact IP policies and IP legal frameworks. Consequently, there is a need to apply a horizontal multi-disciplinary approach by addressing all the AI-related questions across the entire IP system. The conversation shall be conducted by the widest audience, considering all the diverse views in an open, inclusive process of global understanding.
