The Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) and UniCredit Bulbank have signed a guarantee agreement under the European Commission and European Investment Bank’s InvestEU programme, expanding access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-cap companies.
The agreement forms part of the broader InvestEU initiative, which aims to mobilise funding for strategic investments across Europe. Through this partnership, the Bulgarian Development Bank will guarantee up to EUR 100 million in loans granted to SMEs, supporting business expansion and strengthening competitiveness through innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable business models.
With this agreement, BDB further consolidates its role as a key partner in European development initiatives. Since 2023, the Bank has been among the 17 institutions accredited by the European Commission to implement guarantee instruments financed by the European Union and Member State budgets.
