The Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB), INSME’s Member, has taken part in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) specialised Platform on Financing SMEs for Sustainability, which promotes sustainable financing for SMEs. This new membership aligns with Bulgaria’s strategic priorities as it advances its candidacy for full OECD membership and also aligns with the country’s commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth.
Through the OECD platform, BDB will gain access to a comprehensive database of research, analyses, and best‑practice examples that can enhance its programmes. The resources will support the bank’s efforts to measure and report the environmental and social impact of its activities, helping it to develop financial instruments that meet sustainability criteria.
The OECD Platform on Financing SMEs for Sustainability brings together public and private lenders, business associations, ESG specialists, and other stakeholders to increase SMEs’ access to green finance and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.
BDB’s new partnership expands its international network and connects it with a broad network of partners from the public and private sectors worldwide. By participating in the platform, the bank reaffirms its role as an active player in the international community and strengthens its contribution to the sustainable development and competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy.
