Clusters meet Regions: Innovation in Umbria

27 June 2025

INSME partners Sviluppumbria, the regional Umbria development agency and EURADA organized the Clusters meet Regions 2025, held on 24-25 June in Foligno. The event, Promoted by European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP) under the auspices of the European Commission, focused on the industrial clusters role as key players in the digital green transition. The event also saw the participation of INSME members Meta Group and partner LazioInnova.

Considering that the event was held in Umbria, the focus was on the three clusters of this Italian region, namely: aerospace, e-mobility, and nautical clusters. Future developments in Umbra and sister-regions across Europe are intended to be a decarbonization policy, pointing at a green technology, like hydrogen. Then, development strategies for industrial clusters were discussed, and how European and Regional financing can support them. In this sense, institutions should support enterprises in the Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3), which aims to help European regions in valorizing their own strengths and to better cooperate toward a digital green transition.

In addition to this, the event included thematic workshops concerning innovation and digital green transition and a pitching session, where projects and innovative solutions  were presented, favoring European partnership. This meeting represented a valuable confrontation platform to enhance synergies among enterprises, institutions and research.

Furthemore, ECCP is one of the promoters of Euromed Clusters Forward, a program INSME is deeply involved in and has recently won the FAB BUS project grant under, working with the association’s long-term partner ANIMA Investment Network.
