18 June 2025

INSME supported the event “Made in Italy – Digitization as a lever for business growth and competitiveness” hosted by Italian Ministry of enterprises and Made in Italy and promoted by ANGI (Associazione Nazionale Giovani Innovatori) in Rome. The INSME president, Sergio Arzeni, was one of the opening speakers of the event on June 17th.

During the conference various high-level speakers took the floor: the Italian director of the cabinet of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy spoke about the role of technologies in supporting Italian enterprises. Flavio Arzanello, Public policy manager at META, illustrated the impact of the customize advertisement has had on the enterprises, especially for SMEs. Thanks to these technologies small enterprises have been able to reach markets that would not have been possible with traditional advertising, both for geographical and culture barriers. A significant example of this was brought by Tiziano Talarico, COO of Talarico Cravatte, who said that the most important country for the enterprise is actually Jordan, which would likely be unreachable without the use of technology.

INSME’s president highlighted that digital platform has provided a huge support for small and micro enterprises in entering new markets. He stressed the point that an excessive regulation by the EU may penalize SMEs, and could contrast with a fundamental principle introduced by UE in 2008, called “Think Small First”. New legal frameworks should not be implemented against new companies export and internalization, rather support entrepreneurs. Finally, Mr. Arzeni requested the Italian institutions to introduce policies which favor Italian SMEs, because they represent the core of the Italian economy.
