Unioncamere takes part to the European Parliament of Enterprises (EPE)

11 November 2025

The 7th edition of the European Parliament of Entreprises (EPE) was held on 4 November 2025 in the Parliament hemicycle in Brussels.

Businesswomen and men – this year more than 700 from 38 countries – were invited to symbolically step into the shoes of the Members of the European Parliament for one day, engaging in discussions and voting on major topics affecting the business sector. This year’s edition focused on three crucial issues, meaning decarbonization and competitiveness, Europe’s internal market, and trade strategy.

Among the representatives from the European business community, the Italian delegation was organized and accompanied by INSME’s member Unioncamere. His President Andrea Prete underlined the crucial role played by European chamber systems in guiding enterprises through services offered by the Enterprise Europe Network. Prete also focused on the importance of creating transnational cooperation tools to boost economic activity in border regions.

The voting results from the session show a clear picture of the priorities and difficulties faced by European enterprises. Almost unanimously, businesswomen and men manifest concern over hot topics such as energy and geopolitical tensions. More specifically, 99% of the participants expressed their concern regarding energy costs and their impact on competitiveness and green transition, while 93% denounced how geopolitical disruptions are negatively affecting supply chains. On top of that, the members of the business community asked for better support in gaining advantages from free trade agreements (90%) and expressed their dissatisfaction with the Single market integration (88%). Interestingly, 91% of the voters asked for the nominee of a EU SME Envoy to represent SMEs.

Organized once every two years, the European Parliament of Enterprises, an Eurochambers initiative, is the largest event at the EU level giving the floor to entrepreneurs.
