Boosting women entrepreneurship in South Africa: the SheTradesZA platform

December, 1, 2020

The ITC SheTrades, together with the Small Enterprise Development Agency – SEDA (INSME Strategic Member) and the Republic of South Africa’s Department for Small Business Development (DSBD) have developed the SheTradesZA Hub to help selected business women expanding their business and enhancing women economic empowerment.

This project is aimed at connecting 50,000 women entrepreneurs to markets by 2023, and it is part of South Africa’s contribution to the development of ITC – International Trade Centre’s (INSME Member) target to link three million women entrepreneurs to markets by 2021 through a unique platform and network.

This initiative addresses trade barriers and enhances opportunities for women entrepreneurs by boosting the possibilities of connection among potential buyers, investors, suppliers and business support organisations; enhancing the skills learning through free e-learning courses, on-site workshops and webinars; receiving support to attend national and international trade fairs and by increasing the access to investments opportunities.
