INSME is pleased to announce the 21st edition of its Annual Meeting, Protecting and Valuing SMEs’ Intangible Assets, taking place in Alicante on October 20-21, 2025. Co-organized with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the event will examine the pivotal role of intangible assets—such as intellectual property (IP), brand reputation, patents, copyrights, and proprietary knowledge—in driving the growth and competitiveness of SMEs. Through this Annual Meeting, INSME aims to explore tools and strategies needed to manage, protect, and leverage intangible assets, as they are now considered to be essential in attracting investment, and fostering long-term sustainability, thereby ensuring sustained growth in an evolving global economy.
Specifically, discussions will focus on the intersection of intellectual property (IP) and finance, examining how SMEs can strategically leverage IP to fuel business growth. Understanding the financial value of patents, trademarks, and trade secrets is crucial for making informed investment decisions, enhancing competitiveness, and securing financing. However, many SMEs hesitate to invest in IP valuation due to perceived costs and uncertainties. The event will address these concerns by demonstrating how structured IP valuation can serve as collateral for loans and unlock new financial opportunities. Experts will also present practical valuation methods to help businesses maximize their intangible assets. The meeting will further explore how IP strengthens competitive advantage, emphasizing the role of patents, trademarks, and industrial designs in protecting innovation and differentiating businesses. Beyond safeguarding technological advancements, attendees will gain valuable insights into expanding market reach, strengthening brand identity, and leveraging IP for business growth.
