European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME Forum

4 September 2025

On 3 September 2025, the SME2B Business Forum and SME Summer Party took place in Brussels, organised by European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME. This year’s theme, “Net Zero in 2050 – and how to get there,” centred on the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in meeting Europe’s long-term climate objectives.

Speakers from EU institutions, research, and business, including Christoph Ahlhaus (President of CEA-PME and Vice President of INSME), Professor Franz Josef Radermacher, and Luca De Carli from DG Climate Action, discussed how SMEs can align competitiveness with emissions-reduction targets. Policy stability, international cooperation, and the transfer of technical know-how were highlighted as essential for enabling smaller firms to adopt sustainable practices.

The forum also presented case studies from companies applying low-carbon strategies, from new training tools and circular-economy models to energy efficiency solutions. A memorandum of understanding between CEA-PME, the Pan African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Afrinet Carbon Ltd. outlined plans to support joint projects on carbon reduction and compensation between European and African SMEs.

The day concluded with an informal networking session, offering participants an opportunity to continue discussions in a more relaxed setting. Congratulations to CEA-PME for the success of this event!
