New Opportunities for Bulgarian SMEs in the Chinese Market

During an official Bulgarian visit to China, Dr. Boyko Takov, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency – BSMEPA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NAO Technology Co., Ltd. The agreement represents an important step in creating stronger business links between the two countries. Its main purpose is to support Bulgarian SMEs interested in entering the Chinese market while also helping Chinese SMEs identify investment and cooperation opportunities in Bulgaria.

The visit brought together more than 50 representatives from the Bulgarian government, public institutions and the business community. The delegation took part in the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade in Xiamen, as well as a special Bulgaria–China investment and business forum. Meetings with Chinese companies covered areas such as investment, industry, new technologies, mobility and the green transition, with both sides expressing an interest in turning long-standing relations into more direct business partnerships.

Under the new agreement, the Bulgarian agency and NAO Technology plan to organise regular business meetings, online B2B sessions and company visits. Cooperation will focus on sectors with strong potential, including energy, infrastructure, transport, automotive technologies, robotics, agriculture, food production, the circular economy and healthcare. The partnership will begin supporting Bulgarian companies during the China-SAE Congress and Exhibition in Suzhou from 25 to 31 October 2026, where participating businesses will be connected with possible Chinese partners and invited to take part in local meetings.
