Two initiatives from EUIPO to support SMEs

July, 31, 2020

The European Union Intellectual Property Office – EUIPO elaborated a groundbreaking initiative to support the European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that have been heavily threatened by the COVID-19 spread.

Through this initiative named The Ideas Powered for Business EUIPO offers two different opportunities:

On the one hand it makes available to SMEs tailor-made services on intellectual property (IP), like a free one-to-one consultation for any question on Intellectual Property, in order to ensure the enforcement of SMEs’ IPRs protection during this challenging period.

This initiative foresees a dedicated area on the EUIPO portal where enterprises can access information on EU trademark and design, receive advice and also assistance in case of litigations.

On the other hand, EUIPO invites all the experts working in the EU countries and entitled to represent natural and legal persons at EUIPO, EPO (the European Patent Office), BOIP (the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property) or at a central industrial property office of member states to contribute to the economic recovery of SMEs by providing them with free assistance in order to maximize the defense of their IP rights.
