As anticipated at the onset of the INSME Annual Meeting, the joint paper published by the B20, Business at OECD (BIAC) and the International Organisation of Employers (IOE), stresses the importance of finding synergies and collaborations between G20 countries in different areas to support the economy while implementing effective measures for sustainable growth and stability. Indeed, the alignment of policies and actions seems to be an increasingly important issue in an economic situation of inflection as the one that the world is currently experiencing.
In order to tackle the asymmetries that hinders the achievement of net-zero objectives, it is fundamental to act in comprehensive frameworks which simultaneously take into account issues of various areas. As a matter of fact, until now, the sustainable transition has been slowed down by multiple and conflicting initiatives which were not effective precisely because they were focusing only on specific topics, and which would not consider how various issues could have been intertwined with each other.
Therefore, embracing the theme of “Inclusive Growth for a Sustainable Future”, as promoted by B20 Brazil 2024, may be the right pathway to implement a holistic and integrated approach which hopefully, will effectively coordinate economic growth and the achievement of sustainability goals. In order to do this, the joint publication presents five use-cases with actionable steps that can significantly advance the sustainable transition, such as addressing working capital needs and implementing early payment platforms to boost productivity.
