SMART COMMUNITIES IN A BROADER TERM
The best vision is insight- Changing lifestyles, demographic and environmental changes have been identified to be the triggering factors towards the realization of smart cities. At the same time the way in which people consume goods and services is also changing. It has been proved that there is a shift from goods to services that led to an increasing demand of intangible services which is also impacting on the way citizens live the cities and the communities they are located in.
New opportunities are arising and have been made possible by advances in information and communication technologies; these developments are deeply affecting the way in which different actors interact with each other. Taking this potential for collaboration into consideration, the concept of smart cities is raising interest among different stakeholder groups as a way to engage government authorities and companies in collaborative projects that might create strong business value.
Both European and Japanese governments are making steps towards the implementation of a smart community strategy that will significantly impact on the economic growth and wellness of citizens. In order to join forces and further contribute to the ongoing dialogue between Europe and Japan, the workshop has been designed to facilitate knowledge sharing about new ideas and innovative approaches across different sectors that can increase their replicability and maximize the impact of smart communities.
INSME in collaboration with the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation organizes the second of a series of innovation workshops on Smart Communities in a Broader Term – Japan-Europe workshop for sharing ideas and experiences towards strategic partnership building for deep insights into 5 thematic pillars:
1. Exploitation of research results for industry – focus on Smart Communities
2. Cyber Security and smart communities
3. Technology Transfer vs SMEs – the challenge with regard to Smart Communities
4. How to use Crowdfunding in SMEs – Smart Cities as co-created communities
5. Industry Panel on Global markets and customer driven innovation that will engage the whole audience into an open discussion.
The event will be made even more memorable as it will be held in connection with the Smart Mobility World, one of the most important European event dedicated to sustainable, connected and integrated mobility in the XXI century. In the evening of the 13th of November and in the framework of the Smart Mobility World, a matchmaking event will take place organized by the Torino Chamber of Commerce within the activity of the EEN. The matchmaking event will be a unique chance to develop synergies to enhance partnerships for future H2020 projects in the field of Smart, Green and Integrated Transport. WHAT IS JEUPISTE?
The initiative is being promoted in the framework of the JEUPISTE project aiming promoting EU-Japan cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) through supports to policy dialogues, deployment of bilateral information services, organisation of networking events focusing on specific technologies and/or societal challenges, operation of help desk services and contribution to the development of human resources for collaborative projects.
