Excitement is building as INSME prepares to participate in the annual consortium meeting in Copenhagen on November 14-15. This event is a pivotal opportunity for INSME to represent the interests of SMEs within the SUPERSHINE project, which focuses on driving sustainable innovations in urban development.
SUPERSHINE, an innovative EU-funded project, is paving the way toward zero-carbon districts across Europe, focusing on the renovation of social housing to combat energy poverty and ease rising energy costs for households. Aiming to develop smart, energy-efficient, and affordable urban areas, SUPERSHINE is creating models of sustainable districts that can be replicated across the continent. The project seeks to ensure that residents have access to adequate funding and energy resources, helping to build resilient and eco-friendly communities.
Through three “lighthouse” districts in Trieste (Italy), Herning (Denmark), and Riga (Latvia), SUPERSHINE showcases the transformative potential of sustainable living. Each district integrates energy-efficient buildings, low-carbon transportation options, smart grid technology, and optimised water and waste management. Backed by responsive digital technologies, these pilot areas demonstrate how resource optimization can support both environmental goals and healthier urban lifestyles.
