The World Bank Annual Report 2018

The World Bank has recently published the 2018 edition of its Annual Report covering the period from the 1st of July 2017 to the 30th of June 2018.
Accelerating inclusive and sustainable growth, building resilience to shocks and threats, helping client countries invest in their people are the three main strategies that will drive the achievement of two goals: to end extreme poverty by 2030 and boost shared prosperity among the poorest 40% around the world.

According to the Report the support in favour of developing countries remains a strong commitment of the World Bank Group and the organisation is focusing on delivering results more quickly. In this framework over $66.9 billion have been invested in loans, grants, equity and guarantees to partner countries and private businesses. This strong commitment is also supported by the Group shareholders that approved $ 13 billion capital increase that will strengthen the ability to meet today’s challenges and respond to the rising demand for financing and expertise.

The Report also includes regional perspectives and a focus on the World Bank Group whose core values have been recently revisited and are: impact, integrity, respect, teamwork and innovation.
