ITC calls SMEs for the world’s largest import expo

24 May 2023

INSME’s member, the International Trade Centre has invited small businesses from developing countries working in the processed food and consumer goods sectors to apply for a business training and attend the China International Import Expo 2023 from 1-10 November in Shanghai, China.

China is the world’s second-largest importer and consumer, and the China International Import Expo (CIIE) is the largest import expo in the world, organized by China International Import Expo Bureau and National Exhibition and Convention Center. This creates enormous export opportunities for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises from developing countries. With advancements in technology, transportation, and communication, the barriers that once limited international trade have gradually diminished. As a result, MSMEs now have the means to access and penetrate foreign markets, opening doors to unprecedented growth and economic development.

The sixth CIIE edition will host government officials, business leaders, exhibitors, and professional buyers from around the world between 5 and 10 November 2023.

In the context of this event, the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) are going to support 30 selected MSMEs from developing countries to participate in a 10-day training programme in China from 1-10 November (four days in Beijing, six days in Shanghai). The training program will focus on various topics including e-commerce, regulatory requirements for export with China, Chinese customs and their laws, creating a fertile environment for growth and fruitful opportunities for these realities to participate effectively in international trade.
