On March 6, Giovanni Zazzerini (INSME Secretary General) took the virtual stage to delve into the intricate journey from startup to scale-up. The webinar titled “From Startup To Scale-Up” was organized by the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman College of Business & Entrepreneurship (MBSC) in Saudi Arabia and MBSC Observatory for Entrepreneurship, Family Business, and Sustainable Innovation.

Mr. Zazzerini brought forth a comprehensive discussion on various aspects of scaling up small and medium enterprises (SMEs). His presentation encompassed three key focal points. First the importance of understanding scale-up and high-growth firms: INSME’s Secretary General elucidated the concept of scale-up enterprises and high-growth firms, shedding light on their significance within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The webinar then tackled the topic of navigating the drivers and challenges of SME scaling up: delving into the intricacies, users explored the diverse array of drivers propelling SMEs towards scalability, juxtaposed with the challenges they encounter along the way. The final point was policy interventions for scale-ups: the discussion provided insights into the vital role of policy interventions in bolstering the growth trajectory of scale-up enterprises, underlining their importance for fostering a conducive environment for entrepreneurial success.

The webinar marked the inaugural session of the 1st Policy & Impact Webinar Series, orchestrated by MBSC and its Observatory for Entrepreneurship, Family Business, and Sustainable Innovation. The initiative aims to facilitate constructive discourse and actionable insights on pertinent issues surrounding entrepreneurship and business dynamics.

The organizers extended their sincere gratitude to Prof. Adnan Maalaoui for extending the invitation to INSME, acknowledging the valuable contribution of INSME towards enriching the dialogue on scaling up SMEs.
