INSME at the World Entrepreneur Investment Forum 2022

31 March 2022

INSME’s Secretary General Giovanni Zazzerini attended the World Entrepreneurs Investment Forum (WEIF), drawing on the Dubai Expo theme of “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”, from March 28th to the 31st. The Forum, organized by UNIDO ITPO Bahrain in partnership with Annual Investment Meeting, aimed to generate sustainable solutions for global challenges through networking and collaboration across cultures and nations.

The World Entrepreneurs Investment Forum provided a venue for entrepreneurs and institutions to gather and discuss what needs to be done at the organisational and governmental levels to achieve entrepreneurial resilience in the post COVID-19 area, for the MENA region as well as the rest of the world. Furthermore, the pandemic has induced a technological shift that has resulted into a new normal; as a result, it is crucial to support SMEs and entrepreneurs through their integration in the 4th industrial revolution.

Mr. Zazzerini contributed to the panel’s discussion on the role of incubators and accelerators in unleashing entrepreneurship and innovation by highlighting the role of incubators and accelerators as “catalysts for entrepreneurship development, since they reduce the liability of newness and increase the firm’s innovation performances by both supporting the exploitation of technologies and capabilities, and by bridging the start-up to the more general entrepreneurial ecosystem”. “Nowadays”, he added, “their role is evolving into becoming ventures builder, the so called “Startup Studios”, such as Rocket Internet in Germany or Idealab in the US”.
