INSME President takes part in the G20, by participating in the B20 and T20 engagement groups

27/01/2021

Since December 1st, 2020, Italy holds the Presidency of the G20, the international forum that brings together the world’s major economies. INSME President Sergio Arzeni has been invited to participate to the B20 and T20 engagement groups leading up to the G20.

The Business20 (B20), which is the official G20 dialogue forum with the global business community, held its first Virtual Inception Meeting online on the 21st and 22nd of January. Its scope is to formulate concrete and actionable policy recommendations based on the priorities identified by the Presidency in several strategic fields, intended to stimulate economic growth and development. The 2021 edition is of particular importance, as global economies must react to the crisis triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. Confindustria, the main association representing manufacturing and service companies in Italy, stated it expects this year’s B20 to bring forth relevant changes in international balances, which might lead to the release of geopolitical tensions. Have a look at the B20 website here.

The Think20 (T20), the official engagement group of the G20, brings together leading think tanks and research centres worldwide. It serves as the ‘ideas bank’ of the G20 and aims to provide concrete and sustainable research-based policy recommendations to the G20 leaders. The T20 Italy strives to be inclusive, digital, and policy-oriented in order to better engage the research community, policymakers and the public at large in the context of the year-long Italian Presidency.

The National Coordinator and Chair of the T20 Italy is ISPI (Italian Institute for International Political Studies), with IAI (Istituto Affari Internazionali) as the T20 Co-Chair and Bocconi University as the T20 Summit Co-Chair. The T20’s first Virtual Inception Conference will be held on the 8thand 9th of February. Learn more about the T20 Italy here.
