The European Food Fraud Network Community of Practice (EFF-CoP), a major Horizon Europe initiative dedicated to combating food fraud, was officially launched in Amsterdam on January 15th and 16th. INSME actively participated in this pivotal event, contributing its expertise and demonstrating its commitment to fostering transparency and safety within the European food system. The inaugural meeting brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including scientific experts, industry leaders, regulatory authorities, and consumer advocates, fostering high-level discussions on innovative strategies to address food fraud.
Over two days, participants engaged in strategic workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, and collaborative planning aimed at strengthening fraud detection and prevention mechanisms. EFF-CoP is designed to serve as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, supporting the development of cutting-edge detection technologies, education resources, and coordinated enforcement strategies. A key element of this initiative is the creation of a dedicated European Community of Practice, which will act as a central hub for stakeholders to collaborate, share expertise, and establish best practices in the fight against food fraud.
By leveraging advanced technology and fostering cross-sector cooperation, EFF-CoP aims to enhance the integrity of the food supply chain and build consumer trust. The initiative will facilitate the implementation of innovative monitoring systems, promote data-driven risk assessments, and provide businesses with practical tools to ensure compliance with food safety regulations. Additionally, targeted training programs and educational materials will equip stakeholders with the necessary skills to detect and prevent fraudulent practices effectively.
This initiative marks a significant step forward in strengthening Europe’s food system against fraud. By uniting key players across the supply chain, EFF-CoP is laying the foundation for a more resilient, transparent, and trustworthy market. Through continuous collaboration and innovation this project will not only safeguard consumers but also create a fairer and more sustainable food industry for the future.
