The 2015 must-attend event: join the 11th INSME Annual Meeting at the (South) African Innovation Hub Cape Town

The 11th INSME Annual Meeting will take place at Cape Town, South Africa from the 26th to the 28th of May 2015, co-organized by OSIBA Management (INSME Board Member). Under the topic “Technology and Innovation for Inclusive Growth” the event will run through three days offering the unique opportunity to meet international stakeholders involved in innovation and technology transfer; to share ideas with the ca. 400 delegates expected for the event; to learn more about innovation trends given the high level speakers which have already confirmed their participation.

The International Conference taking place on the 27 th of May will focus on:

  • The right skill set for a globally competitive and innovative enterprise;
  • User driven innovation for sustainable growth in a collaborative and international innovation eco-system;
  • Access to finance to stimulate inclusive growth for SMEs.

Among the speakers already confirmed representatives from: University of Cape Town, South Africa; Kinawataka Women Initiatives, Uganda; Fund for Development of Youth Projects, Oman; Springfellow, Sweden; Stenum Asia, India; Saint Petersburg National Research University of Information Technology, Russia; International Growth Centre, UK/Kenya; EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation, Japan; Innovation Business Development, USA; EURADA, Belgium; OECD, France; t2i – trasferimento tecnologico e innovazione, Italy.

The International Conference also hosts a panel discussion on Innovation and Entrepreneurship with relevant academic speakers which will share their knowledge and expertise on the today’s South African environment.

To complete the picture on the last day participants will also take part to a stimulating Innovation Tour at the Launch Lab – a business hub for a community of entrepreneurs – and The Barn – Africa’s largest and oldest technology incubator.

Day 3 will continue with the INSME – OSIBA Management International Training, dedicated to a hot topic in the framework of Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship which is “Frugal Innovation in the Context of Social Entrepreneurship”. INSME is proud to have as trainers Mr. Rajat Batra, from Stenum Asia, a company based in India and Mr. Lars Iversen, Partner and Business Adviser at Springfellow AB, a Swedish company.

The trainers, in the innovative context of the Cape Town Craft and Design Institute, will share their experiences and through an interactive approach involving all the participants will answer to two crucial questions:

  • How can innovation help social enterprises increase impact?
  • How to leverage innovation practices in extreme environments as a source of competitive advantage?

Furthermore the International Training will also give visibility to a case study from local young entrepreneurs involved in the field of Social Innovation, enriching the space for discussion and networking during an intense and interactive afternoon session.

INSME is delighted to celebrate its 11th Annual Meeting in the African Continent for the first time in its history. A deeper understanding of the local business context will be possible through Forging Enterprise, a major national event to celebrate the 20th anniversary from the launch of the South Africa’s small business policy by former President Nelson Mandela.

In this stimulating framework speakers, trainers, delegates will jointly put the basis for future potential partnerships and business collaborations by experiencing an enriching three days program to move forward together in the innovation path.
